Dr. Jim Bird Retires
In the words of Dr. Bird, “My advice to aspiring school leaders is to remember that leadership is not about what you do but rather about who you are. Understand yourself and play to your strengths. Be authentic because authenticity builds trust and engagement within those of whom you are fortunate enough to lead. When students say, “What if being myself isn’t good enough?” I say look for a more compatible setting. Disney says there are no bad characters, just bad casting. Do not look for the next job; look for the job that is a good match for your strengths, talents, interests, and passions.”
